TITLE: OPERATIONS MANAGER
JOB TYPE: 40 hrs/week
LOCATION: Santa Barbara (CA)
PAY RATE: $15- $17.50 Hour DOE
WHAT WE ARE: The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition (SBBC) is a countywide advocacy and resource organization that promotes bicycling for safe transportation and recreation.
Bici Centro, a project of the SBBC, is a community DIY bicycle repair shop and education center, with the goal of facilitating skill share and increased reliability and safety for Santa Barbara bicycle riders.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Bici Centro Bicycle Repair Shop and Education Center seeks a qualified bilingual manager to oversee day to day operations. These include: coordinating shop open hours, class instruction, volunteer coordination, and bike valet. Shop operations, the primary emphasis of this role, include teaching bicycle mechanics skills to customers and volunteers, overall maintenance of the center, creating an open and welcoming community space, and facilitating positive volunteer and customer interactions. Operations manager will oversee intake and organization of new and used inventory and materials. This position will report to the Executive Director and will serve as staff to the Bici Centro Committee of the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition (SBBC).
The manager will be expected to uphold the values of accountability, customer focus, and efficiency. In support of the mission statement of the organization (SBBC), the manager will cooperate with the Director, committee members and volunteers to plan, develop, and implement programs to continue a high level of service to the community in DIY Bicycle Repair and Education.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Excellent bicycle mechanics skills, demonstrated through previous bike shop employment
•Spanish fluency
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Self-motivated person who can work efficiently and effectively in both a chaotic environment and a solo situation
•Strong communication skills including: interpersonal, electronic, and group setting
•Ability to effectively teach in both one-on-one and class settings
•Experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization or retail shop
•Experience working with a volunteer base
•Ability to establish relationships with volunteers and staff to best facilitate our open and inviting community space
•Organizational skills
•Computer literacy and experience with Point of Sale Systems
•Ability to set measurable goals and see them through to their completion
•Commitment to the use of the bicycle as a legitimate form of transportation
