Assistant Store Manager, Pedal Revolution
Description of Organization: Pedal Revolution is a non-profit full service bicycle shop in the Mission District of San Francisco. We provide an internship program in which we employ and train at-risk youth (ages 16-21) who are taking steps to improve their lives. Pedal Revolution is owned by the nonprofit, New Door Ventures. Required Experience and Skills:
• Minimum 3 years in a professional bicycle shop working in a management position.
• Ability to manage, inspire and lead a team.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to sell new bicycles and accessories as well as refurbished used bicycles.
• A successful candidate will have a deep internal desire to work diligently to make a significant impact on Pedal Revolution and the lives of at-risk youth in San Francisco. They will demonstrate empathy for their staff and interns and seek to inspire and motivate them to be their best.
Description of Duties: The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of a retail store to achieve or exceed sales goals, provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean, safe and pleasant environment, and support the training and development of our youth client employees.
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, the Assistant Store Manager:
• Performs basic supervisory duties, including but not limited to:
o organizing and maintaining staff schedule according to shop staffing needs.
o resolving routine personnel problems
o supervising and evaluating work in progress of all staff members to ensure that sales and service goals are met
o correct and timely completion of employee performance appraisals
o preparation of disciplinary actions as required
• Hiring of professional mechanics/sales staff.
• Monitors store inventory levels and insures that merchandise is properly stocked and maintained.
• Maintains a clean, neat and organized environment for customers and employees.
• Assists in training new employees and on-going training to enhance employee skill levels.
• Oversees or makes the deposit of daily store receipts, and completes related record-keeping requirements.
• Responds to the more complex or unusual customer concerns or questions in a courteous and professional manner.
• Interfaces effectively with other departments, such as Human Resources and Accounting to resolve issues.
• Insures store areas are free of safety hazards and instructs staff in proper safety procedures.
• Attends training events and meetings as scheduled.
• Models a professional retail image to the public and staff at all times.
• Ability and availability to work weekends and evening hours, as necessary.
Evaluation/Compensation based on:
- Meeting and exceeding monthly sales goals
- Meeting and exceeding intern staff training levels
- Effective support of full time and part time staff members
- Effective and friendly customer service practices.
- Overseeing production of work for all staff members
- Administrative duties: reporting, financials, timesheets, daily sheets, expenses, sales, monthly inventory, hiring and other human resources issues
