iPhone app update: Ride the City 1.4

Posted in

Version 1.4 of the Ride the City iPhone app is in the Apple Store!

This new update includes the following:

  1. High resolution display
  2. A new map legend with a couple new icons (Thanks to Kelly and Glyphish!)

Some screen shots:

High resolution display: Finally! Now you can read the display crisp and clear

New map legend: If you have to walk your bike over a bridge or if you're forced to ride over rough pavement, like cobbles, you'd get one of these icons. For most routes, however, we keep you off of routes that make you get off your bike or go over cobblestone.

In case you haven't heard, Ride the City is constantly getting better. How? We use Open Street Map, the volunteer wikipedia-like project to map the world: thousands of users are constantly updating Open Street Map data to make the routing better and to make the basemap more interesting. Want to get involved? You can make edits yourself and eventually see them on the iPhone. Here's a short video that gives a quick overview of Ride the City and shows you how to edit Open Street Map:
